SGT Craig Moton Early Warning Systems Operator Duty station: Suwon Air Base, South Korea Hometown: Youngstown, Ohio Soldier Show Performer
SGT Craig Moton says he has been singing since he could talk. While attending Chaney High School, he toured China with “The Youngstown Connection,” a dozen vocalists from Youngstown area schools. In 2006, he was named best male actor in a musical play for his role in “Smoky Joe’s Café.” He studied musical theatre at Point Park University in Pittsburgh. After deploying for a year to Mosul, Iraq, he battled the flu through live auditions for the 2012 U.S. Army Soldier Show. “I could barely talk,” Moten said. “It was like watching two trains wreck in slow motion. Nothing was there.” This year, he landed a spot in the show by singing “Make Them Hear You” from the musical “Ragtime.” Moten, 25, hopes the experience of touring with the Soldier Show will determine how seriously he wants to take a musical career.
