Command Sergeant Major Gary Coker (4th Brigade Combat Team Command Sergeant Major, 3rd Infantry Division) is interviewed at the site of the battle that claimed the life of Medal of Honor Recepient Sergeant First Class Paul Ray Smith on April 4th, 2003. CSM Coker speaks about his relationship with 'Smitty', about SFC Smith's work ethics, his last meeting with SFC Smith the night before and morning of the battle at the Baghdad International Airport, and the attitude of the Soldiers on that day. CSM Coker gives his definition of 'The Warrior's Ethos' and says of SFC Smith, "He is the Warrior's Ethos." CSM Coker tells of SFC Smith's legacy and how Soldiers in the unit refer to the SAPPER tab as the SMITTY tab now. He also talks of SFC Smith's reputation for wearing sunglasses and the SAPPER tab before it was authorized.
