The United Arab Emirates Airline flew an international flight into the Basrah International Airport from Jordan on Wed. Feb. 2, 2011. This flight is the first of many planned flights the Emirates Airline has for Basrah, Iraq. Security gains in southern Iraq made by the Iraqis has allowed increased focus on economic development. Civilian air carriers now make up more than 75% of all air traffic operations in Iraq. Improved security conditions in southern Iraq foster an emergent Iraqi economy.
