The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District provides an aerial update on the Tenmile Slough levee improvement project (TS30L) in western Stockton, California. The video compares the site before construction began in spring 2025 with progress from summer 2026.
Crews are installing a cutoff wall, reshaping the levee, and adding waterside erosion protection along approximately 1.1 miles of levee at risk for through and underseepage during high water events.
Tenmile Slough is the first phase of the $1.95 billion Lower San Joaquin River Project, which will improve 23 miles of levee and build closure structures at Fourteenmile Slough and Smith Canal. The project will reduce flood risk for an estimated 264,000 residents in north and central Stockton.
Work on the Tenmile Slough phase is projected to be complete by the end of 2026.
