U.S. Army Soldiers with the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), along with families, distinguished guests, alumni and veterans, attend a dedication ceremony for the newly named Meadows Range in honor of legendary Green Beret Maj. Dick Meadows at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, June 11, 2026.
The event honors Meadows’ storied career, from his early enlistment in the 82nd Airborne Division to his foundational role in U.S. Army Special Forces and key operations. Speakers included retired Col. Alan Shumate and Meadows’ son, retired Lt. Col. Mark Meadows.
Attendees unveiled a memorial plaque, observed a moment of silence, and sang “The Ballad of the Green Berets” and the Army Song. The range features displays highlighting Meadows’ legacy and will serve as a training site to build esprit de corps for future Green Berets.
