4th Marine Regiment celebrates its 110th anniversary in Okinawa, Japan, April 16, 2024. The regiment, first activated in Puget Sound, Washington, April 16, 1914, has battled mightily from the beaches of Veracruz during the Banana Wars to the desert in Afghanistan during Operation Desert Storm. Through steadfast dedication and unwavering commitment, the regiment continues to uphold the legacy of excellence, in keeping with their motto, “Hold high the torch.” (U.S. Marine Corps video by Sgt. U.S. Marines with 2d Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment executed exercise Korea Viper 24.1 in the Republic of Korea, Jan. 31- Feb. 29, 2024, while forward deployed under 4th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division. Korea Viper is a new exercise series that allowed the Marines to practice expeditionary advanced base operations and also provided opportunities to train with Republic of Korea partners.
In a heartfelt ceremony, U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Kaydan Smith made a profound commitment not only to his country, but to the memory of his late wife Emily. Amidst the grief of losing her in a tragic car accident, Smith, a network administrator with Headquarters Battalion, 3d Marine Division, reenlisted among friends and fellow Marines at Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 21, 2024.
