CARIBBEAN SEA – At the request of the Government of Jamaica and under the direction of U.S. Southern Command, U.S. Marines and Sailors from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit have commenced foreign humanitarian assistance operations in response to Hurricane Melissa, which struck the region on Oct. 28, 2025.
As part of the initial relief effort, aircraft from the 22nd MEU—embarked with the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group—delivered critical medical supplies and food to impacted communities. Marines and Sailors have established operations in southwestern Jamaica, integrating with Joint Task Force-Bravo to set conditions for sustained support and follow-on assistance.
