In this issue we look back at the legacy of the “Balboa” name and its deep significance to Navy Medicine. Our history in Balboa Park began in 1917 when we opened a 2-ward clinic (“War Dispensary”) on the grounds of the former Panama-California Exposition. Today, nearly 110 years later, the Balboa name has become synonymous with excellence in medical care and innovation, training the next generation of healthcare providers, and ensuring operational readiness.
