    In this issue, we look back at the Navy Medical Department 50 years ago in the American Bicentennial year of 1976, as medical and dental centers were getting "regionalized," new naval medical facilities in Okinawa and (the ever controversial) New Orleans were coming online, a new Surgeon General was taking the helm, the SPRINT program being developed and fleet hospitals (now known as expeditionary medical facilities) were reborn.
