The first EAP-TAA mission by Train, Advise, Assist Command- North (TAAC-N) was conducted in Maimanah, Faryab, in March 2018 with the 209th Afghan National Amy corps, 707th Afghan National Police Zone and the 808th Afghan National Police Zone in In northwest Afghanistan. ANDSF has the added challenge of countering threats from IS-K, not just the Taliban, so the Maimanah EAP is aimed at training, advising and assisting to address this additional threat. Total of 265 RS soldiers and advisors from seven contributing nations came specifically to Maimanah, to conduct the mission. Expeditionary Advisory Packages (EAPs) provide training, advising and assisting (TAA) to more remote areas of Afghanistan, bringing the training to Afghan military even when their fight is further out. EAPs are one part of a multi-pronged strategy that continues increasing ANDSF capability and enabling them to pursue the offensive against insurgents. In this way the TAA can occur in the very same conditions that the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) has to work with in their fight against insurgents. In every EAP mission Resolute Support´s TAAC teams relocate temporarily from their base to Afghan corps bases, to train, advise and assist, shoulder by shoulder with their Afghan Counterparts. It’s this hands-on training that will continue to grow their ranks and restore increasing control of governance.
