Title: 106 German soldiers arrive in Mazar-e-Sharif 106 mechanized infantry soldiers of the 4th company of Mechanized Infantry Battalion 401 from Hagenow in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Northern Germany) arrived in Mazar-e-Sharif on April 17th. The soldiers will serve as force protection for German advisors during their training, advising and assisting of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in Camp Shaheen in Mazar-e-Sharif and Camp Pamir in Kunduz. The first EAP-TAA mission by Train, Advise, Assist Command- North (TAAC-N) was conducted in Maimanah, Faryab, in March 2018 with the 209th Afghan National Amy corps, 707th Afghan National Police Zone and the 808th Afghan National Police Zone in In northwest Afghanistan. ANDSF has the added challenge of countering threats from IS-K, not just the Taliban, so the Maimanah EAP is aimed at training, advising and assisting to address this additional threat. Total of 265 RS soldiers and advisors from seven contributing nations came specifically to Maimanah, to conduct the mission. Expeditionary Advisory Packages (EAPs) provide training, advising and assisting (TAA) to more remote areas of Afghanistan, bringing the training to Afghan military even when their fight is further out. EAPs are one part of a multi-pronged strategy that continues increasing ANDSF capability and enabling them to pursue the offensive against insurgents. In this way the TAA can occur in the very same conditions that the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) has to work with in their fight against insurgents. In every EAP mission Resolute Support´s TAAC teams relocate temporarily from their base to Afghan corps bases, to train, advise and assist, shoulder by shoulder with their Afghan Counterparts. It’s this hands-on training that will continue to grow their ranks and restore increasing control of governance.  less

Danish force protection platoon and American force protection platoon are working closely as dismounted force protection for NATO advisers and for civilian contractors at Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) and the Afghan Air Force in Kabul. The Danes also do force protection by ground in MRAP vehicles. The broll includes shots of the dismounted force protection, and ground movements in MRAP from RS HQ to HKIA and back.   less
