    HELMAND PROVINCE, Afghanistan - The Helmand Governor's Media Center announced that on Monday afternoon in the northern Zwando area of Musa Qala district of Helmand province eight civilians were killed and five others injured when their car was hit by the blast of an improvised explosive device. The casualties include women and children, but the exact numbers of these are not yet known. Security forces rushed those
    injured to hospital. The Helmand Governor has condemned the event and offered sympathy and prayers to the families and relatives of the casualties.

    The Helmand Governor's Media Center also announced that on Monday in the
    Khwajada area of Musa Qala four insurgents attempted to place an improvised explosive device on the main road of the area. The insurgents were targeted and killed by an ISAF airstrike. No other casualties or damage was caused.
