JOINT BASE ANACOSTIA-BOLLING - Nicholas Priest is slated to perform for more than 53 million spectators as part of the United States Air Force Honor Guard Parade Flight’s appearance at the 86th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Nov. 22, in New York City.
Airman 1st Class Priest joined the United States Air Force Honor Guard, Feb. 13, 2012, where he represents airmen all across the service to the American Public and the world as a ceremonial guardsman.
“As you watch my wingmen and me march in the parade, realize that each day our primary mission is to lay fallen heroes to rest in a much more somber, subdued environment: Arlington National Cemetery,” said Priest. “The precision with which we execute is a tribute to those heroes and shows the standard that is set throughout the Air Force.”
The parade begins at 9 a.m. East Coast time, and will be broadcast on many television stations.
“I still cannot believe I have the opportunity to represent the Air Force and its heroes to people around the world. This includes my mom, who served for 10 years. There is no greater honor,” said Priest.
Located at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, D.C., the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard leads the way as representatives of all airmen around the world, both past and present.
Now, as one of the Air Force's oldest organizations, the honor guard continues to serve the Chief of Staff of the Air Force as the face of the Air Force to the American and global public.
Airmen of every enlisted rank and both company and field grade officers volunteer and are competitively selected from their peers in more than 200 different Air Force career fields to serve in the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, making the honor guard the standard for discipline and military professionalism.
