VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Haskell, N.J. native and Passaic County Technical Institute class of 2005 graduate, Sgt. Kenny Leon was promoted to his present rank during a formation at Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group (MCSCG) aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek – Fort Story, Va., Nov. 1.
Sergeant Leon joined the Marine Corps in May 2007 and is currently serving as an embarkation clerk at MCSCG.
Prior to checking into MCSCG earlier this year, Leon served as a surface embarkation clerk with Second Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune, N.C. where he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from January to December 2009.
Leon currently resides in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia with his spouse Dominique, who is from Clifton, N.J. and their two children.
His father Luis Leon resides in Elmwood Park, N.J. and mother Luz Vasquez resides in Haskell, N.J.
Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group is a unit that executes and enables Security Cooperation (SC) Programs, training, planning, and activities in order to ensure unity of effort in support of U.S. Marine Corps and regional Marine Component Command (MARFOR) objectives and in coordination with operating forces and Marine Air-Ground Task Forces.
