SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C.— A memorial has been scheduled June 19, at 11 a.m., for a U.S. Air Force technical sergeant assigned to McEntire Joint National Guard Base, S.C.

The memorial will be held at the 169th Fighter Wing headquarters auditorium at McEntire JNGB.

Tech. Sgt. Kenneth E. Moore, 36, died at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, June 14, at approximately 10:30 a.m. He was home for two weeks on deployment mid-tour leave visiting his wife and children.

After experiencing medical issues at his home, an ambulance transported Moore to the hospital. The cause of his death has been attributed to a bilateral pulmonary embolism.

Moore is remembered as very happy to serve his country, loved spending time with his family and enjoyed participating in sports. According to his wife, he would watch, coach and referee every type of sport possible.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and co-workers of Tech. Sgt. Moore during this difficult time,” said Col. Clay Hall, 20th Fighter Wing commander. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of a Team Shaw member and are focused on taking care of the family at this time.”

Tech Sgt. Moore was assigned to the 20th Operations Support Squadron, Detachment 1 that falls under Shaw AFB administratively, but is located at McEntire JNGB. Moore enlisted in the Air Force in 1995 and served as an aviation manager.

Moore considered Fort Worth, Texas, his hometown but had ties to Enid, Okla., and Phoenix, Ariz.

He is survived by his mother and father, wife, two daughters and a son.
