DENVER, Colo. – Navy Reservist Logistics Specialist 3rd Class Rita Case competed for the 2012 Mrs. Colorado Pageant at the Buelle Theater in downtown Denver Feb. 25, making her the only Reservist out of all the contestants.

Case was asked what her journey was like in competing for the 2012 Mrs. Colorado title. "My journey is all about the red, white and blue. [If selected,] my year would be spent representing the Wounded Warrior project and other organizations that care about our veterans," said Case during her last interview question of the night.

Celebrating its 36th year, the Mrs. Colorado Pageant recognizes the one person who contributes to the modern family … America’s married woman. As a Reservist, Case drills with Operational Support Unit 1914 at Navy Operational Support Center Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colo.

"I am so proud of our sailor," says Cmdr. Pam Kramer, commanding officer of NOSC Fort Carson, referring to Case. "She emulates that a sailor can be rough and tough but also be a beautiful woman and lady both inside and out."

Case has been competing in the Mrs. Colorado pageant since the age of 19 but has taken the last two years off since joining the Navy Reserves. Her husband, an Army veteran, was injured during his last tour, making her quest to become Mrs. Colorado a key goal and a catalyst to support the Wounded Warrior program.

"I applaud LS3 Case for her support of the Wounded Warrior project and supporting our veterans. We can never give enough credit to our veterans for all that they and their families sacrifice on a daily basis," says Cmdr. Kramer.

Case finished the night as the 2nd runner up, out of 50 contestants, to become the next Mrs. Colorado.
