CAMDEN, S.C. - The S. C. National Guard was presented with a 20-foot “We Support our Troops” banner, signed by hundreds of visitors to the Springdale Racecourse in Camden, S.C. The banner was a gift from McDonalds and sponsors of the 42nd annual Marion du Pont “Colonial Cup” International Steeplechase race held Nov. 19.

The gesture of gratitude was part of the second annual “Salute the Military” tribute held in conjunction with the race. The Colonial Cup sponsors also donated hundred of infield passes and general admission passes to military members and their families to attend the race.

George Sensor, owner of McDonald’s restaurants in the Camden area and sponsor of the banner said, “It’s been a pleasure to participate and let the military know we are thinking of them.”

Brig. Gen. Darlene Goff, S.C., assistant adjutant general – Army, accepted the banner on behalf of the S.C. National Guard and offered her gratitude to the Camden community and event sponsors.

The banner is en route to soldiers in the 1-151st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, who were deployed to Iraq and are currently in Kuwait.
