YUMA, Ariz.- Yuma Harrier squadron welcomed a new commanding officer at a traditional change of command ceremony at the squadron’s hangar Friday.
Lt. Col. Bret Ritterby, outgoing Marine Attack Squadron 211 commanding officer, passed on responsibility for leading the squadron to Lt. Col. Chris Raible, newly christened squadron commanding officer, during the ceremony.
Ritterby, a University of Washington graduate, leaves the Avengers to join Marine Aircraft Group 13 here on station. Meanwhile, Raible, a Carnegie Mellow University graduate, departed MAG-13 to lead the squadron.
“The Wake Island Avengers are a family,” said Ritterby. “One family, one fight; we always work hard to achieve our mission and come home safe.”
“The avengers looked great today,” added Raible. “They looked great, looked sharp and I’m proud of them. I’m excited to take command of the squadron and join the Avenger family.”
The squadron is slated to deploy to Afghanistan next year.
