    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Richmond, Va. native and Dinwiddie County High School class of 2005 graduate, Damien E. Hall was promoted to the rank of Marine Corps sergeant during a ceremony with fellow Marines aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, Va., Dec. 1.

    Hall entered active military service in June 2005, and is currently serving as an infantry skills instructor at Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group in Virginia Beach, Va.

    Prior to checking into MCSCG Hall served as a rifleman with Second Battalion, Eighth Marine Corps Regiment (2/8), Second Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C. from September 2005 until February 2009.

    During his time with 2/8, he deployed twice to Iraq. The first time he served for eight months in Al-Anbar Providence and the second time he served for seven months in Ramadi, Iraq, and while on this deployment his daughter Nevaeh was born on Dec. 8, 2007. Although he was unable to be there for her birth due to his devotion to protect American values and freedom, he was with her in spirit and the American Flag that was flown over Ramadi on that day was lowered and was presented to Nevaeh on a later date.

    Hall lives in the Hampton Roads area but often visits the Dinwiddie County, Virginia area to visit his three children; Daughter Nevaeh and twin sons Landon and Logan who turned a one-year-old today.

    His parents Joseph and Hope Hall still reside in Dinwiddie County, Va. area.

    Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group is a unit in the Marine Corps that coordinates, manages, executes, and evaluates United States Marine Corps Security Cooperation programs and activities, to include assessment, planning, related education and training, and advisor support to ensure unity of effort in building Partner Nation Security Forces capacity and capability in order to facilitate USMC and regional Marine Forces component support to combatant commanders security cooperation objectives.
