    Commandos, USSF find more weapon caches in Konar

    KONAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Soldiers from 3rd Company, 1st Commando Kandak and Special Operations Task Force – East discovered three additional weapon caches during follow-on operations in support of Task Force 'No Slack' in the Sirankay Valley, Konar province, April 2–7.

    The Afghan-led operation followed a three-day mission in the valley in late March, which removed significant amounts of munitions from the valley.

    The newly discovered caches included 35 rocket-propelled grenades with 40 boosters, two DShK anti-aircraft weapons systems, 10 fighting vests, 20 grenades, two mortar rounds and 10 bolt-action rifles.

    The commandos also discovered and destroyed three insurgent fighting positions during the clearing operation.
