FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died after battling a serious illness March 9 in Clinton Township, Mich.
Cpl. Gjelosh Vata, 26, whose home of record is Macomb, Mich., was assigned to the Warrior Transition Unit, Fort Hood, since March 2. He entered active duty service in March 2008 as a Patriot launching station enhanced operator and maintainer.
Vata's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (posthumously awarded), National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon and Army Overseas Service Ribbon.
