LSA ANACONDA, Iraq-Morale is a word commonly used to describe the emotional or mental condition of an individual military member or group of service-members.

A small gesture, such as saying thank you, or a large connection to home, such as celebrities visiting the post, can add to morale.

Lee Greenwood and a crew of entertainers visited Logistical Support Area Anaconda to perform at Holt Memorial Field for service-members and civilians deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The guests included comedian Dick Hardwick, musical group Restless Heart, members of the Air Force Reserve Band, the New England Patriots cheerleaders and Lee Greenwood.

"I see an event like this as a little taste of home, a getaway," said Senior Airmen Luis Pozo, with the 332d Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron. "I appreciate these guys coming out."

Pozo worked security for the event; he volunteered to do the job on his day off. Pozo was excited to work with Army personnel for the first time during the concert.

"I figured there might be times to help out. It's better than sitting around," Pozo said.

Unlike Pozo, Sgt. 1st Class Robert Clay, a food services specialist at Dining Facility 3, explained he used his free time before work to take advantage of the festivities.

"The event is good for the morale and good for the troops," Clay said.

Music and comedy along with cold water and hot dogs helped give the audience a small taste of home.

Spc. Anthony Breaux, an infantry soldier attached to the 5th Squadron, 117th Cavalry Regiment, went to the show to get used to the weather and acquaint himself with the post. He agreed with the other service-members, he felt the event was good for boosting morale.

"Soldiers get aggravated and events like this are good to give you a break," said Breaux.

The music and comedy acts entertained those living on LSA Anaconda for an afternoon. The event brought service-members and civilians together for a few hours, but more importantly, it was a chance for everyone involved to enjoy a small taste of home.

"It's great to see we are all here as one force," Pozo said. "All the forces come together to enjoy entertainment from home. Events like this bring up spirits and morale."
