NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 15, 2026) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District has scheduled a drawdown of the lake for November 2026.
Nashville District’s water management specialists plan to hold the lake within the 443 to 443.5 mean sea level (MSL) range, which is approximately one to two feet lower than normal pool elevation. However, rainfall and other conditions may influence the lake levels.
The Corps of Engineers uses this drawdown period to assess the condition of shoreline adjacent to Corps operated recreation areas as well as perform maintenance in recreation areas. Water managers last performed a drawdown of Old Hickory Lake in November 2023.
A slow drawdown is scheduled to begin Nov. 2, 2026, from the lake’s normal pool elevation of approximately 445 MSL to a target elevation of 443 MSL by Nov. 6, 2026. This target elevation is scheduled to be maintained through Nov. 20, 2026. USACE aims to recover to normal pool, 445 MSL, by Nov. 28, 2026.
