Sole Mates - Winning One Step at a Time

Every step counts—and together, the Soldiers of Team 1889th BDE RSG proved just how far teamwork can go. During the three-month Treasure State Trek fitness challenge, the team logged an incredible 1,068,485 steps and 315,271 activity minutes, earning first place through dedication, accountability and a shared commitment to healthy, active lifestyles. Brig. Gen. Renea V. Dorvall, Montana Army National Guard Assistant Adjutant General, recognized the team for their accomplishment, highlighting that physical fitness is more than a competition—it's a cornerstone of readiness. Strong, resilient Soldiers are better prepared to serve their communities, respond to emergencies and accomplish missions whenever Montana calls.

Congratulations to Maj. Andrew Gundlach, Maj. Eric Nelson, Sgt. 1st Class Kyle Lewis, Staff Sgt. Dan Kocab, Staff Sgt. Johanna Lembke and Natasha Kocab for representing the 1889th Regional Support Group with outstanding teamwork and determination. Their individual efforts combined into one remarkable team achievement, demonstrating that readiness begins with personal commitment but is strengthened through teamwork, accountability and encouraging one another along the way. Well done to the entire team on an outstanding accomplishment!
