Department of War Personal Property Activity Launches Official Website
SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Illinois. — The Department of War’s Personal Property
Activity (PPA) will officially launch its new website, www.ppa.mil, on May 1, creating a
centralized digital hub designed to better support Department of War personnel and
industry partners as they navigate the personal property moving process.

The new platform serves as a definitive sole source of truth for the Department of War’s
personnel and industry partners as they support the global household goods and
vehicle shipment, storage in-transit, and non-temporary storage missions. The website
replaces previously fragmented platforms by providing a modernized, user-friendly
experience that focuses on clarity, accessibility and efficiency.

The website was designed with Warfighters in mind and provides step-by-step moving
guidance and checklists for every stage of the relocation process. The website includes
resources on Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves, Personally Procured Moves
(PPM), OCONUS shipments, claims filing procedures, and privately owned vehicle
shipping guidance. It also includes a centralized library of printable tools and guides that
help Warfighters and their families prepare for their move.

Maj. Gen. Lance Curtis, commander of the Department of War’s Personal Property
Activity, said the website’s launch reflects the organization’s commitment to improve the
relocation experience by offering greater accessibility to military families.

“Our service members and their families deserve a relocation experience built on trust,
    quality, and support,” said Curtis.

“The Personal Property Activity exists to ensure every personal property move receives
quality service. This website is a critical step forward in delivering on our commitment to
give our Warfighters and their families a single, authoritative place to find the
    information they need.”

In addition to customer-facing resources, the website introduces an Industry and
Government Resource Center, a dedicated portal for Transportation Service Providers,
Personal Property Shipping Offices, Personal Property Processing Offices and
government stakeholders to access a repository of the latest advisories, business rules,
    and operational guidance.

This website will supplement Military One Source which will continue to host PPA fact
sheets and useful information. The PPA website will organize all PPA resources into one
location, replace the previous Defense Personal Management Office website, and
bolster our commitment of strengthening collaboration across the entire enterprise to
improve the quality of care we provide to the Department’s military movers.

Col. Mike Ashton, director of operations for the Personal Property Activity, emphasized
the importance of the new website for Department of War personnel, their families, and
    industry partners.

“This website is an investment in how we communicate and operate across the
Personal Property Activity enterprise,” said Ashton. “By consolidating our guidance into
one website, we improve access to information and create a stronger, more connected
system for military families, our field offices, and our industry partners.”

The PPA views the website as a living resource and encourages feedback from field
offices, government stakeholders, and industry partners to ensure the platform
continues to evolve and meet the needs of its users.

The Department of War encourages all military service headquarters representatives,
joint personal property shipping offices, transportation management and counseling
offices, and transportation service providers to familiarize themselves with the new
website and begin incorporating it into their local briefings, external communications
    efforts, and operational messaging.

The PPA website launches 2-weeks in advance of the PCS Peak Season.

The PPA’s call and operations center will continue to be available 24 hours a day
starting on May 15 th until September 15 th at PCSCallCenter@mail.mil and 1-833-MIL-
    MOVE.
