Quebradillas Native Honored as Warfighter of the Day aboard USS George Washington By Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Tyler Crowley YOKOSUKA, JAPAN – Quebradillas native Aviation Boatswains Mate Fuel 3rd Class Bradlee HerminaCruz was recognized as the Warfighter of the Week aboard Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), April 10, 2026. Warfighter of the Week is a command program where the ship’s captain personally recognizes an exemplary Sailor selected by their leadership for their accomplishments. HerminaCruz was recognized for leading five Sailors and two contracting entities in the inspection, preservation, documents, and closing of 58 JP-5 Tanks as JP-5 Tank Team Petty Officer. “My proudest accomplishment is helping junior Sailors become their best selves,” said HerminaCruz. “helping them grow into confident and capable leaders.” He has been in the Navy for 4 years and has served on George Washington for 3 years. HerminaCruz is a 2018 graduate of Celebration High School in Kissimmee, Florida. George Washington is the U.S. Navy’s premier forward-deployed aircraft carrier, a long-standing symbol of the United States’ commitment to maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region, while operating alongside allies and partners across the U.S. Navy’s largest numbered fleet.
