NAPLES, Italy – Sailors in Navy-owned and operated unaccompanied housing (UH) at U.S. Naval Support Activity (NSA) Naples now have access to free Wi-Fi as part of the Navy’s Virtual Single Sailor Program, a collaboration between Commander, Navy Installations Command’s (CNIC) Morale, Welfare and Recreation program and the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM).
This service is a critical readiness enabler. When Sailors have safe housing, reliable services, and strong community support, they are better focused and mission-ready. Access to free Wi-Fi improves Sailors’ quality of life and quality of work. In addition to providing access to entertainment, Wi-Fi helps Sailors access professional training and online higher education courses.
“Having reliable Wi-Fi in the barracks is a huge morale booster," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Dylan Flynn, a UH resident at NSA Naples. "Not having to worry about another bill makes it easier to connect with family back home, unwind after a long day, and keep up with college courses online.”
Residents will also have the option to pay for upgraded Wi-Fi service at a subsidized rate. The new program will offer both free filtered Wi-Fi and subsidized filtered Wi-Fi, as well as affordable unfiltered Wi-Fi service options, with no long-term contracts or termination fees.
“This initiative is a direct reflection of our unwavering commitment to the well-being of our Sailors,” said Vice Adm. Scott Gray, Commander, Navy Installations Command. “Providing free, high-speed Wi-Fi is a fundamental step in improving their quality of life, ensuring they have the connectivity they need for personal and professional growth. We are dedicated to delivering the resources that support our warfighters, and this program is a testament to that promise.”
UH residents can sign up by accessing the Service Set Identified (SSID) on their mobile device available in UH buildings for the contracted service provider, or by visiting their local residential services office or on-base internet provider office.
