U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Randy E. Perez Aguilar, aviation ordnance systems technician, Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (H&HS), Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River, has been recognized as the MCAS New River Go-Getter of the Month for February 2026.
A native of Calhoun, Georgia, Perez Aguilar enlisted in the Marine Corps, Sept. 19, 2022, with the goal of improving himself and serving in a force built on honor, courage and commitment. He said his decision to join was self-motivated with a desire for personal and professional growth.
Since arriving to his unit, nearly three years ago, Perez Aguilar has gained the responsibilities of quality assurance (QA) safety observer within H&HS, MCAS New River. As QA Safety Observer, he ensures ordnance operations are supervised and executed correctly and safely in accordance with technical publications and established standards. During his time with H&HS, he has focused on strengthening his technical proficiency while reinforcing standards and accountability among the Marines he works with daily.
His goals as a Marine center on continuous mental and physical improvement so he can effectively lead Marines in the right direction. He said his leadership focus is on building confident, disciplined and well-trained Marines who understand their responsibilities and are prepared to step into leadership roles when called.
“My goal for my Marines is to make sure they are confident in their abilities, trained and disciplined,” Perez Aguilar said. “They should know their job and uphold Marine Corps standards so they’re ready to lead when it’s their time.”
“Cpl. Perez Aguilar was the first non-commissioned officer I made contact with when I hit the fleet, and from then on he’s always been by my side, whether it’s teaching me how to do this job or teaching me life skills such as changing my oil or changing the brakes on my car,” said Lance Cpl. Kevin N. Dang, safety non-commissioned officer (NCO), H&HS, MCAS New River. “He’s not just an NCO, but someone who’s helped me with every aspect of life.”
Capt. Antwain C. Burns, aviation ordnance officer, H&HS, MCAS New River, said Perez Aguilar is an exceptional Marine who consistently performs his duties at an exemplary level at Station Ordnance. Burns noted that his maturity, professionalism and continual pursuit of excellence set the standard for his peers, and that he consistently exceeds expectations through his ability to train and mentor Marines, maintain critical programs and drive the sustained success of MCAS New River Station Ordnance.
“In the first quarter of fiscal year 2026 as a quality assurance and safety observer, a qualification reserved for Sergeants and below, Cpl. Perez Aguilar successfully executed over 90 evolutions, involving issuing and receiving ordnance, in addition to overseeing six ordnance shipments for January 2026,” said Burns. “His efforts directly contributed to the safe and incident-free handling of more than 12 tons of ordnance valued at over $2.7 million.”
Through consistent performance, safety oversight and mentorship within his section, Perez Aguilar reflects the initiative and professionalism recognized by the Go-Getter award.
