    NTAG Empire State Hosts Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs at NRS Elmhurst

    ELMHURST, N.Y. — Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) Empire State welcomed The Honorable Benjamin C. Kohlmann, Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, during an official visit to Navy Recruiting Station (NRS) Elmhurst. The visit was hosted by NTAG Empire State Commanding Officer, Cmdr. Elliott Skiles, Jan 15, 2026.

    The visit provided an opportunity for senior leadership to engage directly with recruiters and command staff while discussing key manpower and reserve initiatives essential to maintaining Navy readiness, also received briefings on recruiting operations, current challenges, and future initiatives supporting manpower growth and reserve integration.

    During the visit, Kohlmann personally recognized three Sailors from NTAG Empire State for their outstanding performance and steadfast commitment to excellence. Their professionalism and dedication reflect the high standards upheld across Navy Recruiting and directly contribute to mission success.

    Sailors also had the opportunity to share their perspectives during the engagement.

    “It was a privilege to meet the Honorable Benjamin C. Kohlmann and share my thoughts on the challenges Navy recruiters face, with the hope of making an impact on future Navy recruiting efforts,” said Fire Controlman First Class Ting Dong, leading petty officer of Navy Recruiting Station, Flushing, New York.

    Navy Counselor First Class Warren James, a recruiter from NRS Newark, New York added, “It was an honor to speak with the Honorable Benjamin C. Kohlmann. The discussion reinforced the importance of our mission and the Navy’s continued commitment to Sailor readiness, manpower, and reserve integration.”

    The visit reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to supporting recruiters and strengthening the force through effective manpower and reserve policies. NTAG Empire State remains dedicated to developing future Sailors while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and service.

    Navy Talent Acquisition Group Empire State is one of 26 NTAGs under Navy Recruiting Command. Headquartered in Garden City, New York, it encompasses regions including New York City, Long Island and northern New Jersey. It consists of 41 enlisted recruiting stations, with additional stations in Germany and Italy.
