10th Mountain Division Sustainment Brigade Activation Ceremony

The 10th Mountain Division Sustainment Brigade held an activation ceremony marking the beginning of a new chapter in support of the U.S. Army’s ongoing restructuring efforts on Fort Drum, New York, Dec. 5, 2025.
Across the Army, the activation of a unit symbolizes the start of a legacy—one built upon the foundation of the Soldiers who served under its colors during past trials and triumphs. This ceremony honored the 10th Mountain Division’s lineage and signified the shift from brigade-centric to division-centric sustainment.
“Moving forward in Large Scale Combat Operations which could be peer to peer and with high intensity, the Army expects divisions, not brigades to be the main unit of action,” said Col. Katresha Bailey, 10th Mountain Division Sustainment Brigade commander. “Sustainment must be coordinated at that larger scale, with flexibility to allocate resources where they’re most needed.”
The following units were activated during the 10th MDSB Activation Ceremony: Division Support Maintenance Company, 513th Engineer Company, 84th Engineer Company, Division Supply and Services Company, Division Petroleum and Water Company, 10th Light Support Battalion, 710th Light Support Battalion.
“The units we activate today will continue that legacy, ensuring that wherever the Division goes, logistics, maintenance, transportation, medical and engineer support will follow,” stated Bailey.
These units reflect the Army’s focus on staying ready for the battlefield of tomorrow, where speed, precision and endurance are essential. Their job is to ensure the warfighter never has to worry about staying protected, fueled, equipped or supplied. Today’s activations further strengthen that support.
With the 10th MDSB colors now uncased, they stand for decades of service, sacrifice and excellence. They honor the Soldiers who stepped forward in uncertain times, deployed across the globe, sustained missions in the toughest environments and upheld the Army values.
“To the Soldiers standing in formation: you are the next chapter in that story,” said Bailey. “You inherit not only the colors, but the responsibility to uphold the standards set by those who came before you.”
