AMMAN, Jordan - On Oct. 24, the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) and U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) completed an initial planning conference for exercise Eager Lion 2026 in Amman, demonstrating the continued strong defense relationship between Jordan and the United States.
Scheduled to occur in May, Eager Lion is a multilateral exercise hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, designed to exchange military expertise, enhance interoperability among partner nations, and strengthen collective readiness to meet regional and global security challenges.
"Eager Lion represents the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment to peace and stability in the region," said U.S. Army Col. Lee Breard, a senior exercise planner from U.S. Central Command. "This exercise grows in scope and complexity every iteration, reflecting the trust, professionalism, and mutual respect that define our relationship with the Jordanian Armed Forces and all participating nations."
During the previous iteration of the exercise, forces from U.S. Central Command and Jordan joined more than 30 partner nations, underscoring the scope and significance of multinational security collaboration in the Middle East.
"Jordan remains one of U.S. Central Command's strongest and most reliable partners in the Levant sub-region," said Breard.
As a capstone for the broader U.S.-Jordan military relationship, Eager Lion reflects more than four decades of close cooperation and mutual commitment to regional stability.
