The Marshall Center hosted the annual Eurasian Security Studies Seminar in Garmisch-Partenkirchen from Sept. 8-12, helping U.S. Foreign Area Officers develop the regional expertise, language proficiency, and political-military skills they need to strengthen U.S. engagement with allies and partners.
The Marshall Center has long been an incubator for U.S. FAOs, building foundational skillsets for their service as security cooperation practitioners and strategic advisors who help advance peace through strength.
Guest speaker U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Chris McKinney, U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) deputy director for Partnering, Security Cooperation, and Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction, emphasized the Marshall Center’s evolving role as a strategic asset to USEUCOM operations — linking education with operational needs, reinforcing European-led deterrence, and advancing the command’s mission.
