Marshall Center Director Barre Seguin honored Amb. Eric Nelson, former associate director, for his service and lasting contributions to the Marshall Center’s mission during a presentation in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Aug. 5, 2025.
During the ceremony, Seguin presented Nelson with the Office of the Secretary of Defense Award for Excellence, recognizing his leadership and impact on transatlantic security cooperation.
From February 2022 to September 2024, Nelson brought a U.S. Department of State perspective to the Marshall Center’s work—advancing efforts to collectively address regional, transnational, and global challenges. Since his tenure ended, he has continued to support the Marshall Center’s mission by championing its work and strengthening relationships wherever he goes.
