NAVAL AIR STATION SIGONELLA, Sicily (July 23, 2025) – Senior Airman Caleb Craig, a Madisonville, Kentucky native, has served diligently at 7th Reconnaissance Squadron (7RS) since June, 2023.

Craig originally enlisted August, 2019, citing frustration with school, and a desire to pursue a hands on job that aligns with his passions for fitness and the outdoors. He found a plethora of jobs that fulfilled those passions in the military.

“A majority of the military does not see combat,” said Craig. “You can still serve your country and support the mission doing a wide range of jobs that are not combat related. There are plenty of job opportunities that most people do not know of.”

Craig works in security forces, where he helps maintain the safety of 7RS personnel and property.

“My Duty Day starts early, typically 0445,” said Craig. “After arming up and attending guard mount, I provide security for all 7 RS personnel and property as either a Flight Armorer, Alarm Monitor, or an Area Supervisor. When time allows, I like to learn new skills from our Navy and Italian counterparts. This helps the Air Force expand its arsenal of ways to innovate and tackle issues that arise in our squadron.”

On top of his main role of providing security, Craig holds a multitude of collaterals to include Vehicle Control Officer (VCO) 2IC, Armory 2IC, Weapons and Ammo Custodian, Brass Custodian, Parts Custodian, and Range Safety Officer.

“Craig is an exceptional Airman who consistently demonstrates a motivated and optimistic attitude, elevating the work environment and inspiring those around him,” said Staff Sergeant Jamille Jones, Craig’s area supervisor. “Craig's leadership skills have guided nine members through three catastrophic alarms across three restricted areas, and coordinated emergency work orders to restore 384 sensors pivotal security to $650M in resources.”

Among Craig’s accolades, his favorite memory is receiving his first challenge coin.

“I received my first challenge coin from the 7 RS Senior Enlisted Leader in 2025, after demonstrating my skills and work ethic to assist Combat Arms Training & Maintenance (CATM) in revamping their armory,” said Craig. “I took the initiative to completely reorganize the squadron armory and slashed process time by 40%, enhancing the ability of 50 personnel and rectifying a five year shortfall.”

When Craig isn’t at work, he can be found powerlifting, head banging to techno music, or playing video games. He is also currently working on his associate’s in Criminal Justice.

For Craig, his service is something sacred. It means upholding the constitutional rights we hold dear and honoring those who came before.

“Service means I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States,” said Craig. “To me serving is a privilege and an honor to our founding fathers and all those service members who have given their life so we can enjoy the freedoms the Constitution provides to all its citizens.”
