Gen. Carsten Breuer, German Chief of Defence, addressed participants at the Senior Executive Seminar on July 16, 2025, emphasizing the critical role of combining military insight with academic exchange to meet today’s strategic challenges.
During his visit, Gen. Breuer fielded questions from participants and met with leadership for a strategic dialogue on transatlantic security cooperation and the continued strength of German-U.S. partnership.
He welcomed the Marshall Center’s sharpened focus on current European security challenges and transatlantic opportunities, stating that in times of global uncertainty, the Marshall Center stands as a symbol of enduring partnership between Germany and the U.S.
Breuer also highlighted the unique role the Marshall Center plays in linking academic insight with military experience and communicating strategic vision across a broad network of partners.
“The Marshall Center is one of those places where you bring together leaders across sectors and nations to break down silos and confront complex challenges with a shared sense of purpose,” Breuer said.
Breuer’s appearance elevates the strategic depth of this year's SES, joining an impressive lineup of senior voices including NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Šekerinska.
With insights from leaders at the forefront of international security cooperation, SES participants are better positioned to influence defense investment priorities, drive institutional reform, strengthen burden-sharing dynamics, and shape the role of multinational frameworks in building credible, coordinated deterrence.
