U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 374th Contracting Squadron coordinated and procured equipment in preparation for exercise Resolute Force Pacific, or REFORPAC 25, at Yokota Air Base, Japan, from June 18 - July 8.

The squadron set up contracts for various items to support personnel during the exercise, from cots and tents for incoming deployers to additional shuttle buses to run overnight in support of nighttime operations.

“Seeing that we can actually do this in less than 30 days is a big testament to what contracting can do and how we’re a force multiplier to increase the capabilities of the hub,” said U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Nicholas McGrath, 374th CONS contracting officer.

Despite the short-notice request, the 374th CONS and 374th Comptroller Squadron worked together to expedite the purchase of 320 cots for deployed personnel supporting REFORPAC 25. Expedited operations like these normally occur only during contingency operations.

“With this big exercise, we prepared in the event of a delay in information, which allowed us to adapt quickly if the situation demanded it,” said Staff Sgt. Thang Nguyen, 374th CPTS deputy disbursing officer. “The quick turnaround tested our capabilities and showed us that if we need to get things done quickly, we can.”

Pacific Air Forces and multinational partners will conduct exercise REFORPAC 25 from July 10 - Aug. 8, 2025, across several locations throughout the Pacific. The exercise will involve more than 300 aircraft and feature U.S. Air Force members alongside colleagues from partner nations and other branches of the military. The exercise will be a realistic and challenging test of their abilities, helping servicemembers increase their ability to respond to shared challenges.
