Camp Darby’s Patient Liaison program helps Americans stationed at Camp Darby access medical care on the Italian economy, as no medical services are available on post. Patient Liaison services are essential for newcomers who don’t know the system and aren’t fluent in Italian. The Liaisons explain the process, answer questions, assist in scheduling medical appointments and even accompany patients to translate during check-in and appointments.

This program is specifically designed to help U.S. active duty and dependent TRICARE beneficiaries, as well as DoD civilians, contractors and retirees on a space available basis.

The following is a description of how to use Liaison services for both those with TRICARE and those with other insurance.

    For TRICARE Beneficiaries:

    1. All active duty military and their command-sponsored family members must enroll in TRICARE Prime Remote by calling International SOS, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at: +1 877-678-1207 (stateside), 800-928-305 (Toll Free Italy) or tricarelon@internationalsos.com. Retirees should also call ISOS to dis-enroll from their premium based stateside Prime plan and enroll into TRICARE Select for Overseas.
    2. Before scheduling an appointment, request an authorization from ISOS.
    3. Once received, you can schedule your appointment through ISOS, the Patient Liaisons or by calling the facility/provider directly.

    For Non-TRICARE Beneficiaries:

    1. Contact your insurance agency prior to scheduling or attending appointments to ensure coverage.
    2. Contact the Patient Liaisons for assistance in scheduling your appointment.
    3. Request a Guarantee of Payment (GOP) from your insurance prior to your appointment or be prepared to pay out of pocket and file a claim to your insurance to obtain reimbursement of any expenses. A GOP assures payment directly to the health care professional outside the U.S. for covered services.
