This year's Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB) competition featured the best medical personnel in the Korean Theater of Operations vying for the right to wear the EFMB, an epitomic symbol of Soldier and medical proficiency. After a grueling five-day testing week, 13 candidates proved they had the determination, intellect, and grit to earn the badge.

The EFMB competition is a rigorous test of physical and mental fortitude, demanding the candidates demonstrate their proficiency in medical tasks under punishing conditions. 144 Soldiers from various 8th Army units participated, vying for the coveted EFMB – a symbol of distinction within the Army Medical Corps.

Kicking off the competition, candidates tackled the grueling Physical Fitness Assessment, testing their strength, endurance, and agility. The assessment pushed them to their limits, setting the tone for future events.

In the Evacuation lane, soldiers displayed their ability to move casualties swiftly and safely in simulated combat scenarios. This critical skill translates directly to a combat situation by ensuring the candidates can promptly and effectively evacuate injured personnel from the battlefield, increasing their chances of survival.

The Warrior Skills and Tasks lanes tested soldiers' abilities to perform tasks vital to their roles in the field. This lane challenges participants to demonstrate their proficiency in land navigation, weapons qualification, radio operations, and other essential skills.

The Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) lanes required candidates to exhibit expert knowledge in providing life-saving care under pressure. These scenarios mimicked battlefield conditions, preparing our medical professionals to respond effectively in real-life situations.

To conclude the competition, candidates embarked on a 12-mile foot march, a true test of their physical and mental resilience. This final event showcased the perseverance and determination required to earn the prestigious EFMB.

The 65th Medical Brigade congratulates all soldiers participating in this year's EFMB competition. Their dedication to excellence, commitment to service, and exceptional performance serve as an inspiration to all within the Army Medical Corps.
