BAGHDAD, Iraq - In the multiple VBIED attack reported earlier, 10 Task Force Baghdad Soldiers were injured in the attack. Eight were treated and released and two sustained more serious injuries and were evacuated to a medical facility.
Numerous Iraqi casualties were also reported. For more information about the Iraqi casualties please contact the Iraqi Ministry of Health, Dr. Ala"din Abdul Sahib Alwan at 914-822-4829 or via e-mail at alwana@moeiraq.info. "The attacks today are clearly those of a desperate enemy," said Lt. Col. James Hutton, a 1st Cavalry Division spokesman.
"There is no conceivable justification for attacking innocent Iraqi citizens who were celebrating the opening of a water pump station. This act puts on display the fact that the enemy is dedicated only to destroying the future of the Iraqi people."
As the situation develops more information will follow.
