WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – The Air Force Materiel Command hosted a virtual Hispanic Heritage Month Cross-Cultural Mentoring Panel, Sept. 29, highlighting challenges and opportunities in mentorship in multicultural domains.
Joseph Oder, Executive Director, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, hosted the event, which featured panel representatives of Hispanic Heritage including Mary Lou Moore, Continuous Improvement and Innovation (Ci2) Consultant and Alternate Master Process Officer in the AFMC Commanders Accelerated Initiatives Group, and Master Sgt. Jonathan Garcia, a Logistics Readiness Inspector at Headquarters, AFMC.
“I loved growing up in this culture, and I love sharing with people about it. Make [your heritage] a positive aspect of who you are, and be willing to share it with people,” said Oder. “This is our Air Force family, and all our brothers and sisters can be from any background. The goal is for all of us to bring these aspects of who we are together to make the mission successful. Bring who you are to the table and share with each other.”
The next AFMC Cross-Cultural Mentoring Panel is scheduled for Oct. 17 in conjunction with National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
