Jordan Bahrucha, a future Marine with Recruiting Sub-Station El Cajon, Recruiting Station San Diego, poses for a photo in San Diego, California on Jan. 20, 2022. He will graduate from boot camp aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego on April 22, 2022, where he hopes to, “give back to the country that has given him a home.”
Originally from the United Kingdom, Bahrucha believed he would serve his home country as his desire to join the military service grew with age. Being born and raised in South Sutton, London, England, Bahrucha started involving himself in his community as a Sutton Sea Cadet at the age of 13. As a cadet, he was able to participate in community service such as; volunteering for charities, crowd control and recruiting programs. At 14, his family moved to America while he stayed in his hometown. When he turned 16, he took the next step to developing his military career by joining the Military Professional College Training in England for 2 years.
In 2020, Bahrucha flew to the United States to visit his family on vacation, but once the COVID Pandemic began, he had to extend his stay. After working a local job for a while, his father put a college magazine in front of him to propose that he start looking at universities to build his future in the United States. In the corner of one of the pages, he saw an advertisement to join the Marine Corps.
Since being here, Bahrucha says, “I’ve definitely fallen in love with this country and decided to stay here.”
Once he walked in to the office of Recruiting Sub-Station El Cajon, Bahrucha immediately became a part of the Marine Corps family. U.S. Marine Staff Sgt. Alexander Morgan, a recruiter with Recruiting Sub-Station El Cajon, was the recruiter who trained Bahrucha for boot camp and assisted him in completing his naturalization process for over a year and a half. Morgan was born and raised in Bridgend, West Wales, United Kingdom. The recruiter and poolee pair were a perfect match.
Morgan says, “You would think he’s from Texas, but he was born in the U.K.! He’s the most patriotic applicant I have ever had the pleasure of working with.”
When asked what the most appealing aspect of the Marine Corps was, he says, “It doesn’t matter if you’re ethnicity is black or white, male or female. You are a Marine.”
