The first shipment of minus 80-degrees Celsius Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines from Defense Logistics Agency Distribution arrived at U.S. Army Medical Materiel Center-Korea at Camp Carroll in Waegwan, South Korea, May 17 for Defense Department dependents on the peninsula.
USAMMC-K received over 4,600 doses of the vaccine and vaccine accessory kits and began vaccinating 12-17-year-olds within 24 hours using U.S. Forces Korea’s inoculation priorities and the 65th Medical Command’s appointment program.
“DLA Distribution Korea will continue to work closely with USAMMC-K and their key stakeholders, ensuring seamless delivery of every vaccine as everyone continues the fight against COVID-19,” said Army Lt. Col. Corinne McClellan, DLA Distribution Korea commander.
The vaccines are one of several groups shipped May 14 from DLA Distribution Susquehanna in Pennsylvania. DDSP workers received and shipped 46,800 vaccines that day to service-operated distribution centers in South Korea, Europe, Japan and Bahrain.
