    DANNELLY FIELD, Ala. -- Brig. Gen. William Sparrow, Alabama National Guard Assistant Adjutant General - Air, was honored at a retirement ceremony May 15, 2021, at Dannelly Field, Ala.

    Sparrow retired with over 36 years of military service to his state and nation. Since his commission in 1986, he has risen through the ranks to his latest position as the Assistant Adjutant General - Air. Sparrow was praised at the ceremony by Maj. Gen. Randall K. Efferson, Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Air Forces Central Command, for his selfless service and continued dedication to the Air National Guard.

    Sparrow has received numerous awards over his career, most notably the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Aerial Achievement Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster.
