PORTSMOUTH, Va. (Dec. 12, 2019) Naval Medical Center Portsmouth’s (NMCP) Pastoral Care Services hosted their annual open house and Lessons and Carols service on Dec. 12. Pastoral Care Services provides spiritual and religious support to NMCP patients and staff, including religious rites and ceremonies. The open house is an opportunity to welcome staff and friends during this special time of the year, and offers refreshments and a holiday decorations competition. After the open house, NMCP staff members and beneficiaries joined Pastoral Care Services staff for a Lessons and Carols service.
“The purpose of the open house and Pastoral Care Services is to open our doors to all personnel,” said Religious Program Specialist Third Class Crystal Livergood. “We want to show them that we are here for them at all times. We have a welcoming environment for any and all.”
As the U.S. Navy's oldest, continuously-operating military hospital since 1830, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth proudly serves past and present military members and their families. The nationally-acclaimed, state-of-the-art medical center, along with the area's 10 branch health and TRICARE Prime Clinics, provide care for the Hampton Roads area.
