Story by Lance Cpl. Tyler Solak

    2nd Marine Division

Cpl. Trenton Frost, a combat engineer and fire team leader with 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB), 2nd Marine Division, is responsible for training his Marines to accomplish combat missions in a timely manner.

Combat engineers are responsible for maintaining structures including buildings roads, and power supplies. They also operate to support infantry units in combat environments.
“As Combat Engineers our bread and butter is mobility, counter-mobility, survivability, and general engineering, said Sgt. Dominick Casanova a combat engineer with 2nd CEB. “We build the defense in support of friendly forces while impeding the enemy.”

Frost came to 2nd CEB from Okinawa, Japan in August of 2019 and has led his Marines by embodying the leadership principle of “setting the example.”

“Lead from the front so that the Marines beneath you know their expectations,” said Frost. “I do everything including the little things to show my Marines the proper way to do something so they can understand it.”

Prior to joining the Marine Corps in 2016, Frost worked at a gym and on a farm as a ranch hand in the summer in his home town of Van Vleck, Texas.

“I wanted to be the first one in my family to join the military, so I chose the hardest branch,” said Frost. “By joining the Marine Corps I've gotten to see more of the world and gained a lot of experience.”

Cpl. Frost was selected as 2nd Marine Division’s Motivator of the Week for successfully coordinating multiple missions while at Integrated Training Exercise 1-20 in Twentynine Palms, California. He lead a fire team during breaching operations using Anti-Personnel Obstacle Breaching Systems to clear paths through wire obstacles and mine fields in support of infantry operations.

    Congratulations Cpl. Frost!
