    412th Theater Engineer Command

    DECATUR, Ga. – The U.S. Army Reserve welcomed newly promoted general officer, Brig. Gen. Wanda Williams, to its ranks during a ceremony, Aug 24, 2019, Decatur, Ga.

    Williams will serve as the 412th Theater Engineer Command deputy commanding general (Operations) in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

    "I am thrilled to be the deputy commanding general of the 412th," said Williams. "Today, I had my ceremony with lots of my family and friends, my civilian employer and military members. I'm grateful and humbled to be promoted to brigadier general."

    The ceremony was presided over by Maj. Gen. Stephen Strand, 412th Theater Engineer Command commanding general.

    "Today, I have the great privilege and honor to promote Brig. Gen. Wanda Williams," said Strand.

    Williams received her general officer flag from Maj. Gen. Lewis Irwin, Commandant, Joint Forces Staff College, National Defense University, Washington, D.C.

    Williams has served in the U.S. Army for over 29 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Texas at El Paso where she was commissioned as a second lieutenant on the May 13, 1989.

    Williams also holds a Masters of Accounting from Strayer University, and a Masters of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. She has completed Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses; the Combined Arms and Services Staff School; the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

    Brig. Gen. Williams' previous assignments include: platoon leader, executive officer, director of maintenance and services, emergency preparedness liaison officer, battalion commander, brigade commander and, most recently, as the readiness chief for the 416th Theater Engineer Command in Darien, Illinois. She has deployed twice, once in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm and once for Operation Enduring Freedom.

    Her military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Army Commendation Medal (5 awards), Army Achievement Medal, and the Air Assault Badge.

    In her civilian career, Williams works as an accountant for the Securities and Exchange Commission, Atlanta Regional Office.
