Naval Hospital Jacksonville (its hospital and five branch health clinics) has again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.
NH Jacksonville underwent a rigorous onsite review, Aug. 20 - 23. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with hospital standards spanning several areas including emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, and medication management.
The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts, and patients. The standards are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance. The surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
“We commend Naval Hospital Jacksonville for its continuous quality improvement efforts in patient safety and quality of care,” says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and chief nursing executive, The Joint Commission.
“Naval Hospital Jacksonville is pleased to again earn the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission, the nation’s premier health care accrediting body,” said Capt. Matthew Case, NH Jacksonville commander. “This accreditation reaffirms our outstanding staff’s commitment to keeping our Navy and Marine Corps family healthy, ready and on the job.”
NH Jacksonville also successfully completed an inspection by the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery’s Inspector General, which reviewed and assessed over 60 command programs. The Inspector General lauded several programs, including Wellness Center, Tactical Combat Casualty Care, Safety / Occupational Health, and Logistics.
