ANNVILLE, Pa. – Gen. James McConville, vice chief of staff of the Army, visited the headquarters of the Pennsylvania National Guard at Fort Indiantown Gap June 25. The purpose of the visit was to meet with Pennsylvania Army National Guard senior leaders and personnel involved with the development, testing, and day-to-day operation of the Army’s new personnel and pay system.
The Pennsylvania Army National Guard was originally selected to be the beta test state for the Army’s new Integrated Personnel and Pay System Army (IPPS-A). The system is now live throughout the states of Pennsylvania and Virginia. This new Human Resources (HR) system will provide integrated personnel, pay and talent management capabilities in a single system to all Army Components, with Army-wide fielding occurring throughout 2019 and early 2020.
McConville discussed many aspects of IPPS-A with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard members in attendance, who have now been using the live system for several months. Topics of discussion included initial fielding and familiarization, lessons learned, and identifying the system’s advantages and areas of improvement.
Before departing, McConville recognized several Pennsylvania Army National Guard Personnel (G1) Soldiers and other individuals who played key roles in the state’s fielding of the new system.
For more information about IPPS-A, including system capabilities and go-live dates for other states and territories, visit the IPPS-A website.
