Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright met with Airmen from the 354th Fighter Wing, partner units, and visiting personnel participating in RED FLAG-Alaska 19-2 during a visit to Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, June 11-12.
Throughout his two-day visit, which took place during the first week of RF-A 19-2, Wright learned more about the 354th FW mission and spoke at an all call.
During the all call, he thanked Icemen for their contributions to the Air Force and for, “keeping all of our aviators on a combat edge when it comes to Red Flag.” He also mentioned the possible creation of two different career paths for Airmen seeking promotion. One path would allow personnel who wish to continue working in their field of expertise to progress in rank and stay immersed in their craft, while the other path would shift members into leadership positions which hone administrative skills.
“I like the potential for the two leadership paths for senior noncommissioned officers in the future,” said Master Sgt. Brody M. Martin, 354th Comptroller Squadron financial operations flight chief. “Some people like to be technical experts and I believe not all people are leaders.”
Wright continued to touch on other hot topics in the minds of Airmen and Americans alike such as the potential for a U.S. Space Force, operational camouflage pattern uniform implementation, possible updates to the service dress uniform, and how to motivate fellow Airmen.
“I encourage all of you to think about what it is that you want out of your Air Force career and your life,” said Wright. “To be honest, it really doesn’t matter in which job, capacity, or in which component you serve as long as you serve honorably.”
