Approximately 60 tracked vehicles and 100 wheeled vehicles and trailers from the 4-118th CAB will be rail loaded during the nearly two-week period. Soldiers and vehicles will be located near the intersection of Garners Ferry and Leesburg Rd in Columbia, South Carolina.
The NTC training is in preparation of an upcoming deployment in support of Operation Spartan Shield in Kuwait later this summer. More than 570 South Carolina National Guard Soldiers from the 4-118th CAB will join elements from North Carolina, Ohio, and West Virginia National Guard, all of which are part of the 30th ABCT, comprising more than 4,000 Soldiers for the deployment.
"We deeply appreciate the support of the public and residents in the Columbia community for their support as our South Carolina National Guard Soldiers prepare for their training," said U.S. Army Maj. Gen. R. Van. McCarty, the adjutant general for South Carolina. "Events like these ensure our Guard Soldiers are ready to answer the call anywhere, anytime, when needed."
